When we moved here and I first toured the facility I was amazed to find that it is just a sea of cubicles (which you have seen in this old post). It is corporate headquarters and there are LOTS of employees so most people work in cubicles but Seth's boss had a big cubicle. We came over at the bottom of the totem pole so that big cubicle was 5 promotions away and I remember wondering if Seth would ever get to that point. He told me he hoped to be there in 10 years. Well, it has been 7 and here he is in what he affectionately refers to as "the double wide", since it is just two cubicles put together with taller walls.
Alright, hopefully Seth doesn't kill me for posting that. I don't think he reads the blog anymore so I should be alright.
After our visit to Discover Card we went to Target to get Valentine's for the kids classes. I wanted to make the cute ones from Family Fun that look like iPods but the kids thought that was silly since they sell ready made cards. They picked out cards and candy for their classmates. Alex will also be giving these out to his classmates.
While we are talking about TKD, Alex won a round kick contest on Tuesday! They had to stand on one leg and continually round kick the other leg without ever letting it drop below waist level. Alex and one girl in class went 6 minutes and showed no signs of stopping so they tied. (I tried it at home. It was HARD!) He got 10 tickets in the Valentine's raffle. On the way home he quietly said Mom, I'm proud of myself. That meant more to me than the victory. Alex is full of compliments for everyone else (and yes, the occasional big butt comment as well) but he hardly ever says anything nice about himself. It was an awesome thing to hear.
I know, I said the words proud a lot in this post and pride is a bad thing. I will work on it, but it is okay to be proud of the people you love, right?

I've worked in seas of cubicles before, too, and I can say that Seth has one of the nice ones:) Good job, Seth, for working so hard to get where you're at today.
My kids don't want me to make Valentines either. Annie said that that would "be embarrassing". Since when did my kids start to think the things I did for them was embarrassing?!? Too bad we don't live there, I'd totally use up your free passes for TKD.
P.S. Check out the comments on your other posts. Sorry for the delay on those. It actually turned into a busy week after we talked. Driving things to school for the girls, having to go into town when I don't normally, etc.

Doug said he saw you guys there yesterday. We went in to visit and see his cubicle last month for the first time ever.
Cheryl, Doug told us that you guys had been there at Christmas time and he actually still had pictures on his whiteboard that the girls drew. Seth was saying that they are all so busy lately and haven't done the Mormon boys lunch in a long time. They need to get that going again.
Dang, I almost cried when I read that Al was proud of himself! Why didn't you tell me that on the phone? The challenge he won seems so hard, you will have to explain it to me more when we talk again.
Using the Valentines is a very creative way to market that studio...clever!
I want a Valentine card if I can four weeks without a commitment. I'm really struggling with commitment right now so let us know if there aren't strings attached and then hook us UP!

Those cards are cool! I would love one if that's okay. Emma has been wanting to karate (or something like it) for a long time. This would be a great way of introducing her to something like it.
And I've seen some of the "double wide" at Discover. They are quite nice compared to the regular ones. So congrats to Seth!

I will text Mr. Pettis and find out if you have to commit to a full 8 week session to get the 4 weeks and free uniform. I also need to ask him if Alyssa qualifies since we are not new members but she would be a new student, although I am not sure I can afford to open the TKD door for another kid. The V-Day party is on Tues from 6-9. I will find out if you have to go to it to qualify for the freebies as well. I will get you more details as soon as I hear back.
