If you read the comments from my last post you will see that my mom and sister compared Alex's Bumblechicken picture to a picture of me as a child. In Kindergarten I sang a solo in the school talent show. I know that is shocking on so many levels but it is true. This is what I sang...
Six little ducks that I once knew,
Fat ducks, pretty ducks they were too,
But the one little duck with the feather on his back,
He led the others with his quack - quack - quack.
quack - quack - quack, quack - quack - quack,
He led the others with his quack - quack - quack.
Down to the meadow they would go,
Wig-wag, wiggle-wag, to and fro,
But the one little duck with the feather on his back,
He led the others with his quack - quack - quack.
quack - quack - quack, quack - quack - quack,
He led the others with his quack - quack - quack.
My mom felt it necessary to even further humiliate an already easily humiliated child by putting me in bright yellow. Usually my great grandma made us the most amazing costumes for every event so I am not sure why I was haphazardly tossed in to this ensemble. Seriously mom? A yellow turtleneck, yellow what-the-heck-are-those shorts, and the world's tallest brightest knee socks. In case that wasn't obnoxious enough, my mom topped it off with a Donald Duck hat that I am pretty sure made a quacking noise when you honked the bill, which my mother instructed me to do as I left the stage. And you wonder why I have social issues?
This picture has started a fun game at our house. Chloe keeps calling it Alyssa. I was never as pretty as Alyssa is but I can see some resemblance there. But then...cover up the long parts of my mullet. Go ahead, do it....and what do you see? A little bowl cut and Alex's face. Ha,Ha! I can't account for Chloe though, I think her face was a contribution from Seth's DNA.
Mom, did those fancy yellow hot pants have a feather on the butt too? I sure hope so.

I made this costume (obviously). Yes, it the butt was stuffed with a pillow and there was a big yellow feather. It took forever to stuff you into it and just about 1 minute before you went on you had to go to the bathroom. You look like Alyssa with blonde hair.
Oh my, I now have blackmail material. Wait, you just posted this on the internet for the world to see, so I suppose it wouldn't work to use as blackmail...LOL. The top half wasn't so bad, but those shorts over yellow knee socks is too funny. You really were a blondie when you were young. I do see both Alyssa and Alex in you here.
All I can say is...
wow
Oh, thank thank you for the big laugh. Love the hot pants, and if one pocket has a feather, can the other one have a red hot pair of lips, like my pants had from the seventies? Heading back to gawk at the picture some more....
Hi Julie,
I still remember that at the Gallatin lunch room. I think you look like Julie....very cute.
Dad
Cute Julie! Do pictures like this ever make you wonder what pictures we take of our kids now are going to come back as "blogging" material in xx years?
Totally Alex!!
That is awesome. I see Alex but I do see Alyssa too. Oh the hat.
So when are you going to re-enact that song for all of us?
What a fun post! Yes, I vote for both Alyssa and Alex. They are definitely yours. And quite frankly I think that costume was perfect!
good times.
