Halloween Leftovers

I don't have much more Halloween to show you but since I promised to be back with more I will hold to my word.

When I saw you last, we had a sick little chicken on our hands. We gave her some Motrin and an hour later she was fever free and done coughing. We wondered if the cold and wind had just bothered her? I checked her a few times in the night and she was perfect. She woke up on Halloween with no trace of a fever or a cough. We decided to go to the Halloween party that evening after all. She was fine all day but as we were getting costumes on Chloe started to cough again. At that point we couldn't tell her no trick or treating. She was armed with her pumpkin and Alyssa's, which she was not about to give back. Seth took all three kids around the block.

I gave Seth the camera to get trick or treat pictures but he is not quite as enamored by the camera as I am so this is all I got back.

Notice Alyssa opted to leave the Bumpit out this time, after she had previously insisted that it was essential.

After trick or treating a little bit, me and Alex and Alyssa ventured out to the party. Seth stayed home with Chloe who was fine the whole time we were gone. Do you think she is suffering from social anxiety?

The party was hosted by our friends the Taylors. Heather, the hostess, has the misfortune of loving to throw parties and being a perfectionist like someone else I have met (in the mirror). I am sure her day was high stress but she pulled off a great party full of lots of cute kids activities and goodies. My kids already told me that we will be going to their party again next year so...no pressure Heather, oh and thanks for having us.

And that about sums up our Halloween. We did try to make a Haunted Gingerbread house with a pre-assembled house but trying to teach kids to pipe frosting windows proved to be a bit challenging. It didn't help that 1/3 of the roof was shattered when we took our house out of the package, but here is the finished product.

We also started a candy corn craft that we have still yet to finish. Remember in grade school when you would wrap a piece of tissue paper around the bottom of a pencil, dip it in glue and adhere it to a cute paper shape? Well, I know now why teachers assigned that project. It keeps kids busy forever. They make sticky paper these days and pre-cut tissue paper but I was stubborn and decided we had to do it all the old fashioned way. We may be done with our giant candy corn by next Halloween. Then again, we may give up.

If you are wondering how Chloe is doing now, she is still faking sick to get out of social situations. She was fine all night and woke up looking good. We started getting ready for church and she decided to cough until it caused her to throw up in her breakfast. Our building is under construction so we only had one hour church today. Since we didn't have Primary I stayed home with the naughty little chicken who is now fine again.
