The beauty of LAZY days

I know I already posted once today and just about every other day this week so you may be sick of me by now but we are just having so much Easter week fun that I can't resist sharing it all.

Today was actually the first day of...



I had such big plans! You all know that I have been repeatedly auditioning for Supermom for the past 6 years. I have even had a few call backs but every time when I see the competition I quickly realize that I am going to get cut...AGAIN!

But I woke up this morning resolved to give it another go. I was going to take the kids to a fun Easter activity at Apple Holler, and then to Jelly Belly factory to ride the train and buy Easter candy. I planned to go buy the girls some sandals to wear with their new sundresses. Big, Supermom-worthy plans!

My kids, however, wanted to stay home and be lazy in their jammies. I ignored their wishes and kept trying to get them moving but they were solidly converted to the idea of having a lazy day.

So, if it's lazy they want, it's lazy they get. We lounged around all day. We made a few crafts, including more beautiful stained glass art. I made bunny bagels for snack (although they looked like cats). The kids laid around reading books and especially liked Chloe's new singing story book. A new movie came from Netflix and since Alyssa and Alex were feeling lazy they actually sat quietly through the whole thing. Chloe woke up from nap during the movie but she still seemed fussy and tired so I laid down and held her on my chest for 30 full minutes without anyone interrupting us. She looked up at me every few minutes and smiled and then put her sweet head back down again. Perfect!

Then Seth came home and we had yummy dinner. The kids opened Easter cards that Grandma Ann and Grandpa Tony sent and they each got a few dollars. They wanted ice cream so we finally got dressed at 6:30 PM and went to Ben and Jerry's. Thanks Ann and Tony!







So, as the day wound down I was thinking about all the stuff we didn't do today and I realized that our lazy day was a great day. Everyone was happy to be home together. It makes me happy that my kids love their life right where they are and they don't always need all the WOW! And now I am thinking that maybe Supermom doesn't have to save the world everyday. Maybe sometimes just cuddling with angels and refueling is heroic too?
