Christmas Break, Week Two: Part Three

Let's move on to Wednesday December 30th

Wednesday started with Seth making crepes. Crepes become a two hour affair when you are feeding ten people, but they are so worth the wait.

The only problem was that Seth invited a young man in our Ward to come over and do a knife presentation, and we were all still in jammies when he arrived at 10:00 AM. He is selling knives to get ready for his mission. He wanted to come practice on us, and as much as I want some good knives, I told Seth that we were not buying ANYTHING! But of course we wanted to support him, so we bought a few. Even though we only got a few knives, we still spent way more than I wanted to. Oh well, I am excited about the knives and even more excited that Seth gets his 2009 bonus this week.

After the knife show, we finally got dressed and everyone headed off to see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. Well, except for me. I stayed home so that Chloe could take a nap and get well. Plus, I needed to get some things ironed out for the new year in Primary. The kids loved the movie, but the adults assured me that I didn't miss much.

And we had another lost tooth on Wednesday. This time is was Aspen. It caused hysteria. The tooth fairy was coming again and this time the girls wanted to stay up all night and catch her. But Cedar really wanted a turn to sleep in the room with Alyssa, and Alex wanted to go wherever Cedar was. We tried to make them stay in their original rooms, a boys room and a girls room. Then we tried to scramble it every possible way, but someone was always unhappy with the outcome. It turned in to mayhem. The dads were out shopping for inner tubes and I don't know why me and Sarah put up with the craziness that was going on. We finally decided that Johnsons would sleep in one room and Englishes in the other. Cedar and Olive decided that they would rather just sleep with their mom and dad, so we FINALLY got everyone situated and we were so ready to sit down and be kid free.

But...not 3 minutes later there was a small party happening in the room where Alyssa and Aspen ended up. Alyssa had lost a tooth. The tooth fairy would have to leave both her and Aspen something and the excitement was impossible to contain. It seeped in to every room and down the stairs, and brought kids flooding back in to the living room, bouncing off the walls. The girls wanted a picture of their toothlessness, and Cedar was twisting and pulling as hard as he could on the semi-loose tooth in his mouth. He wanted so badly to be in on the fun. Here are some shots of all the kids all wound up again.

Cedar jumped in to say, LOOK I have missing teeth too!

Holding up the missing teeth! I am not sure I have ever seen three top teeth missing at once. It is cracking me up!

After a few pictures and some chatter about how they planned to catch the tooth fairy, we once again got all the kids back to bed. Apparently the girls stayed up all night, and fell asleep for only 2 minutes, just enough time for the tooth fairy to sneak in.

The girls each got a key chain with their picture on one side and a two dollar bill on the other. They also had a note explaining that since the tooth fairy got 2 teeth that night, everyone in the house had a treat on the table. So, at 4AM, the kids were running to the kitchen table to see what it was. Sarah caught them; I slept through the third attempt to get the kids back to bed. On the table Cedar also had a note explaining that he should wait to pull his tooth until it was ready. He did get 50 cents and a cute picture of him with the girls though. How fun for the kids to share this memory! I hope they do remember it.

And I guess that brings us to Thursday morning, and I will dedicate a post to Thursday in a little while.

Side note: Alyssa's front tooth, the one that has already been missing for several weeks has now started to come in, dead straight too. I would be celebrating that fact, but it is a big tooth and it is completely occupying it's designated space, and the newly vacant lot next door to it. So where does that side tooth come in? We shall see?

It is funny how excited kids get about losing a tooth. I love how you handled the tooth fairy situation though. Cute idea!

How cute for those girls to lose teeth at the same time. They will bonded for life because of that! So sweet.
