Thursday, December 31st (New Year's Eve)
We had a fabulous New Year's Eve. We were hoping to go sledding, and for the first time in my life, I was disappointed that we haven't been getting any snow. It is burying everyone but us, and 99% of the time that has me dancing on the ceiling. But, we wanted to go sledding and you can't do that without snow. We finally got just enough to mostly cover the grass, and luckily it was even a pretty warm day (20 degrees or so).
Wisconsin is pretty flat, but we found a hill that was nice and long without being too steep. Perfect for the kids, and the wimps (me). We had an awesome time sledding! I mostly held Chloe and stayed behind the camera, but I did venture out a few times. The kids were in heaven. Alex declared his intentions to build a hill in his yard and become a professional "sleigher".

Then we rang in the new year at The Hawley's house. They had cousins in town as well, and we had a fun little white elephant party, complete with a keg of root beer. Most of us made it until midnight. Cedar and Olive crashed on the floor and Sarah and Jonathon ended up taking them home about 45 minutes before we hit midnight. Aspen stayed behind with us and headed up the confetti making committee. She was thrilled to stay up for the big event. At midnight, our friend Mike lit some explosives that he made, while the kids doused the house in confetti. Then they promptly kicked us out. Dang, I had another 4-5 hours left in me. I refuse to believe that we are at that age where we must adopt a 10:00 bed time.

Oh how fun! My kids love going to to the snow, but we make it there once a year (if we are lucky). Last year at actually came to us! Yup-Here in Vegas. We were able to sled down our driveway! :)
