We decided to ride the train so that we could relax and chat instead of trying to navigate Chicago during rush hour. I think the girls may have liked the train and cab rides more than the luncheon, but they were still bouncing with excitement when we arrived at our destination.
We were trying to move the girls through the store and we looked over to find both of them posed with the girl of the year. Chloe is sitting here as I type and told me they were pretending to be sea divers like the girl in the picture. I cannot convince her that McKenna is actually a gymnast.
We started out with a little shopping. We tried to steer them to the things we thought were cute but the girls knew what they wanted. Chloe picked a doll high chair and doll food. Kayleigh opted for a doll toilet and potty training diapers.
With their big red shopping bags in tow, we headed off to check in for lunch.
The restaurant is oh so cute and girly but I still find the dolls in high chairs a little creepy.

Chloe making Seth wave at the camera but I was actually taking a picture of her lunch. The girls ordered the AG picnic...mini burger, mini hot dog, mini mac and cheese and a fruit skewer. They ate 5 bites tops. I had quiche, which was okay and Kennon had a chicken sandwich which was also okay but that she said was no better than Wendy's. So my opinion is the same as it was when I went with my mom and Alyssa.... you are paying for the experience, not the food. Kennon and I agreed that they could step up the cuisine with what they charge, but for cuteness, cleanliness and service they get an A+.
Dessert of pudding in a flower pot, star sugar cookie and heart cupcake. and notice that Seth is looking around again. I think he is checking out Kayleigh's bitty baby. Told you these dolls are a little creepy.
And speaking of creepy, look at the doll holder on the wall of the bathroom.

Chloe feeding her babies at home. My kitchen table is too wide to hold the high chair which is too bad because I was really looking forward to dolls staring at me during every meal. Oh well, they will have to eat at the coffee table instead.
I also brought home some glasses for Alyssa's doll. Alyssa never wears her glasses, not even at school (after she begged for them so she could see the board) but she did put them on to pose for me. She thought they were really cute on Victoria so maybe she will remember to put them on her own face once in awhile.
Luckily the Lego store is right next to AG so I popped in to look for something for Alex. He is dying to get the green ninja from Ninjago but the only set that includes him is $120 so I was happy to find a very small set that included his other current obsession, Captain America. He didn't even say hi when he walked in after school. He saw the Lego bag, seized it with a quick thanks mom and ran straight to the table to build.
Huge thanks to Kayleigh and Kennon for coming along on our AG adventure and for being our friends all year long. It was a blast!

What a fun (freaky) trip. LOL I like the pictures of "Seth's" wandering head. Brooklynne has no idea what an "American Girl" doll is. I wonder if I should keep it that way. How sad that the girls won't be together next year. It's always disappointing when best buddies get split up. Brooklynne is very sad about losing her brother next year when she goes to Kindergarten.
Alyssa looks great in her glasses! Did you get the non-glare lens? They look great in the picture. Alex is too cute with his Legos. Such a cutie.
Kaden's teacher is moving to Chicago this summer. I always think of all the fun stuff she can do that I have seen on your blog. :)
So fun! That's too bad that C and K won't be in preschool together next year. I did the same thing with Annie though her 2nd year of preschool with the 5 full days. I'd say the fun is the travel in mass transit to Chicago. Maybe you should just do field trips on the metra back and forth to entertain the kids;)
I wish we could've gone to AG at least one more time before we moved. We only have done breakfast, so I can't speak for the other cuisine. It's funny though, I got a quiche, too. They must just save the quiches from b-fast and resell them for lunch...haha. You are hilarious with your creepy comments. Only Julie would see the creepiness at the AG Cafe. Since seeing Chucky though many years ago, I have to agree that dolls are a little freaky to me. You never know when one is going to suddenly start talking to you.

What a fun play date! Too bad the only time I've ever been to an AG store was with Heather in NYC when she was 16. But she talked me out of a doll anyway. I mean, what else do you do at that place, and when does a girl ever grow too old for a doll???
(Not true - she was too old for the doll before we even stepped out of the door. By the time we got home, it was me toting it through the airport. Guess it was really me who never grew out of loving dolls....)
I loved the store and wished both my girls were young enough to take there again and again, and for a minute wished I was rich enough to do it, too. It's fun that you live close enough to make that part of your rare and enchanting occasions.
I wish an AG store were closer...hmmm maybe we need to take a trip to see you, the White Sox and AG! Love the baby doll named Seth. LOL!
Looks like you had fun! Emma has never really gotten into dolls, and I am both sad and glad about that. It would be fun to share something so girly and frilly with her, but this way I don't really have to deal with all the accessories and the creepy dolls themselves. But there are plenty of times I wish she'd like them more. She does love her legos though. And she has the same set with Captain America. She LOVES Captain America. Especially his shield. I love how excited and focused Alex is about his legos! So fun!
Holly, I loved dolls as a girl and never had Legos but Legos are better. They get played with more and inspire more creativity, but they are just as pricey as these dang dolls. Alex is on a huge Captain America kick right now too and also LOVES that shield. He wants to paint our frisbees to look like the shield and he slept in Capt. America jammies for two weeks after he saw the Avengers. Him and Emma should get together more because they seem to have lots in common.
