Defining "Up to 4 Hours"

Everyday between 3-4 PM I get a sudden urge to eat everything in the house. In an attempt to control my food issues I decided to try drinking a Slim Fast shake each afternoon instead.

This sounded like a brilliant plan since the Slim Fast label promises to "control my appetite for up to 4 hours". The problem is that I am sure they forgot the fine print. I think it is supposed to say "for up to 4 hours when consumed with a Big Mac and fries". I think one gummy bear has a more filling effect than these stupid shakes.

I have been trying to stick with it anyhow and just play mind games and convince myself that I am full. I am so not full. I am starving!

As I have thought about this whole "up to 4 hours" claim that Slim Fast makes, I finally realized that up to 4 hours just means any amount of time under 4 hours. I guess the shakes keep me satisfied for the 30 seconds that it takes me to walk to the cupboard to get some real food, so I can't sue for false advertising!

Slim fast does keep you satisfied for "up to 4 hours". Then again, so does a gummy bear.

Those things suck. A better snack would be edamame or a salad.

I've got a great plan--just serve dinner between 3 and 4 pm! Seth can eat when he gets home. Have dessert at 6 or 7 pm when you start getting hungry again. Then go straight to bed and to sleep before you get hungry again!!

That is totally the hardest time of day for me, too, oh, wait, and then I'm always hungry again, or eating, whether or not I'm hungry, after the kids are in bed. Well, at least I know NOT to try Slimfast, huh?

I just remembered the best diet advice I ever got, and it was from your daughter: "A skinny girl is a hungry girl!!!"

This one sounds funky but it does make me feel full. I sometimes drink water with fiber in it (like metamucil) it's gross but it works. You could also try an apple with a tall glass of water for that full feeling. But yes Alyssa is right you have to get use to feeling hungry. I wonder if that's what people did in the olden days.
