On Wednesday we left Valerie's house for Downey. Valerie, her kids, Kristen and Steven all came up to LA with us. Hooray!
We were planning to go over and see our Grandma King on the way, but she wasn't feeling well, so we took the kids for a picnic in the park instead. We didn't do much the rest of the day. Just drove to Downey and then sent Alyssa to a play with my mom-Beauty and the Beast. I think she really enjoyed that. She was a little out of her element most of the week. I think she is officially transitioning into a big kid, and there were no other big kids for her to play with there.
The rest of us hung out and ate El Taco. I would take you on a food tour of California, but we didn't eat as much as usual. The rest of my family is being all health conscious...boring! Just kidding...I am actually quite proud. My mom and stepdad lost a combined total of 95 pounds in the last 12 weeks. I hope they don't mind me sharing that. We were so excited to see them slimmed down and healthy.
The highlight for Wednesday was the arrival of Kelly, who flew in from Utah for a few days. We played more Buzzerwizzer and made up a silly game. Valerie included Jeff via text message.

The 18th was Seth's birthday, and he flew in to join us that night. I am lousy at grown up birthdays. I can't ever think of a darn thing to do to make it a special day for him. I came up empty on gift ideas, so I finally decided to make the rounds and get him t-shirts from all our favorite local restaurants. If you know Seth, you know he is a sucker for souvenirs, and he buys shirts everywhere we go. We tried to think of some local places. As we went through the list, we realized he's already picked up a shirt or two from each of them. We decided to go to Balboa and look for a hoodie, since he already has a t-shirt and a mouse pad from our favorite place in Balboa. Unfortunately, all I found was a Newport Beach hoodie. I told you , I am lousy at birthdays.
We spent the day in Balboa and then kept the kids up late so they could say hello and happy birthday to Seth when he finally arrived, and then hustled them off to bed since we had another big day planned for Friday.

I love Balboa! You're pictures make me miss Balboa-and my family-terribly. Great pic of Kelly. I'm so glad she was to meet up with you guys. I was wondering where she was at in your last couple posts. :) Great to see pictures of all of you.
Dang, I should have told you I had been calling and calling...yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! I actually have really been wanting to chat, plan some kind of get-together, etc, so I really should call. By the way, you can buy a new cord at Walmart for not too much (well, at least I did once on a trip--I suppose it could depend on your phone).
