Warning: Requires Adult Supervision

Chloe thinks she is too old for a nap. I wholeheartedly disagree, but so far, I am losing this battle. In the past, if I didn't have a chance to shower in the morning before Chloe was awake, I could take a make-up shower while she napped. Now if I miss my morning shower I am stuck, until Seth gets home.

Today I missed my shower. I got dressed anyhow, and grocery shopped and dropped off and picked up at school, but by 2:00 I decided that I really wanted that shower. Chloe was wide awake, but highly engrossed in Alex's train tracks. She hadn't moved an inch for 20 minutes. I decided to sneak in to the shower and be back before she knew I was gone. She must've heard the water come on and seen her little mischief window open.

51 seconds after I got in the shower, just long enough to be completely soaked, and warm, Alex pounded on the door and told me that Chloe had her diaper off. "Okay I'm coming", I shouted through the door. "It's poop and she is sitting on the train tracks", came the muffled but urgent response. I contemplated ignoring that and staying in the shower for 4 more hours until Seth got home. But my body reflexively jumped from the warm water, threw a robe on while still dripping wet, and ran for the mess. I exited the bathroom and bumped in to Chloe, finger painting herself, her clothes and my bedroom door with her poop. She had also scooted her naked bottom across the basement carpet and toy train tracks, before coming upstairs. I don't even need to tell you anymore. Everything involved in the incident has now been bathed, scrubbed, laundered, or thrown away and I have learned that...

Two year olds CAN NOT be left unsupervised....EVER! And the consequence for slathering my house in poop...ONE LONG NAP. Good night sweet poopy girl!

*This is unrelated, but Alyssa came in from school today claiming that is was "sweltering" today. 45 degrees is Wisconsinese for warm, but sweltering? Whatever.

I don't know what to say. I haven't stopped laughing. Maybe you should shower at night...

Isn't this from the woman who won't let animals in her house because they put their bare butts on things?? And they even clean it before they sit!

Oh man, I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that, but this post has made my day. I've been sitting around feeling sorry for myself because I have strep throat for the second time in 3 weeks, but suddenly that seems better than poop finger paint. You could always try taking her in the shower with you, that way she won't be left unsupervised.

That is one crazy kid! Definitely need to maintain the nap routine for your sake.

I have to say that I haven't had a kid paint anything yet with their diaper goods :) knock on wood. They're good at making you think they're not paying attention when they totally are aware of everything, just waiting for that perfect moment when they can do the most destruction! Good luck with all that--and the nap thing!

This is my first poop painter. I usually make her sit in the bathroom with me, even while I am on the toilet (I know, TMI) but she was distracted and Alex was distracted in another corner and they were quiet and not bugging each other and I thought I could sneak away for 10 minutes. NOPE! I have pictures of the damage from the last time I tried to use the toilet alone too...maybe I will post them...maybe not.

As for the animal lovers comments...at least this is not a daily occurrence and SHE is human and does not have a hairy butt. I would rather scrub human poop than empty a litter box anyday!

Oh, Julie, this made my day! I must have Stephanie (Bill's wife) start reading your blog. We must Never (may I repeat NEVER) allow Chloe and Kamryn to be in the same room together!

Actually, they are both two. That says it all.

Chloe, Chloe. What a stinker--ha, ha.

Oh, the irony! You just wanted to clean yourself up a little for the day. Next time, stick with greasy hair. It's more sanitary in the long run. Choo, choo!

Oh man. That makes me anxious just reading about it. We haven't had any poop paintings but have had some moments of it getting everywhere when Abi used to take her diaper off at about that age.
Blah.
She has always been the same way. She notices if I'm not paying attention and gets sneaky. It's amazing how fast they can get things done.
