Excuse, Excuses, Excuses

I hate excuses! I hate laziness! I am a really hard worker. That is one thing I really like about myself.

So why is it that I can not seem to exercise??? I don't make excuses for anything else but exercise, oh I have volumes of excuses...

I already showered so now I can't exercise.

Sure I could get up earlier and exercise before I shower but I stay up late and I already get up pretty dang early.

I don't feel like it. Shouldn't I be allowed to just sit for a minute or should I feel really guilty for reading a book...because I do feel guilty whenever I do anything for me.

I need to clean the house first.

I have stuff to do for church.

I should really play with the kids instead.

I should probably start making dinner.

I can't exercise at night because then I'll never get to sleep.

The list goes on and on....

I have not done one bit of exercise in the past two weeks. We came home from the Dells with all kinds of leftover junk food and I ate two party sized bags of Peanut Butter M&M's and a $13 wedge of fudge in two days, by myself. Then I rounded out the week with 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies which is totally justifiable because they only make them once a year. That leads me to perhaps my lamest excuse of all for not exercising...

What's the point. I already ate like a pig. I'll just start over when I am having a better day.

Hello!!! Could any day be made worse by a little exercise? Shouldn't I be the most motivated on the days that I eat the entire candy aisle? You would think so but those are the days that I just give up. I feel guilty so instead of trying to get back on track I eat some more and call it a free day. So irrational, I know.

The point of this post is to tell you all that I am struggling but not giving up. I said I would do this and I WILL DO THIS! Alright, off to eat some cookies...

just kidding....

maybe?

I recognize a few of those excuses! I might need to borrow the rest. Oh, and next time you get 3 boxes of girl scout cookies, I expect you to share!

Uh, I haven't done anything yet either--every time I get sick it takes me like a month to get back to good routines--that's my excuse, but surely "I was sick once, a while ago" is not valid! Didn't Emily want to do 2 miles three weeks from the Dells. Uh, I think I'd die. What are we going to do? I'm thinking a reward dinner at CF if we do 3/week for a month. That might motivate me--what do you think?

So, I call those days "high calorie days." Like on the "biggest loser" I think I have them more than the intended once a week, but you can borrow my excuse if you want!

At least you aren't like the majority of women (including me) who would have gained ten pounds from the GS cookies alone. I wish your freakish metabolism was genetic!

Ohh so funny!!! Ohhhhhh so true!!!! I hear you. And those cookies - gave half the ones I bought to Bill and Stephanie, but I, alone, and no one else ate the other half. Just wish I could do it and still look like you! Love you, Aunt Julie

I'd love to borrow some of your excuses too!! But it's now down to crunch time for us--we have to exercise 4 (FOUR!!) times a week until the Trek in July. I am afraid that the medical group (me and Tony) will be the first to drop. 38 miles up and over Rocky Ridge--but we're not going to pull our own handcart this time like we tried last time. Hope the kids listen at their first-aid training so they can revive us!
Good luck on your plan. How about using Kettle Balls? Look interesting!

I'm right there along with you. At least I do have an excuse for the next 3.5 months. I'll have to more to deal with than you do though once I am able to get back on the wagon.

Don't beat yourself up about it. The good side of it is that you have a high metabolism and you can get away with that more than the normal person. Me I eat a whole party bag of M&M's and I can't fit in my pants the next week. Even if you can get yourself outside when it gets nice and go for a walk that counts for something...and the kids enjoy it too.
