Seth was out of town. We had just had a ton of snow. Luckily the bulk of it came before he left, and he cleared it. But one night we got another few inches and I knew I needed to clear it. I was trying to get kids to bed at about 8:30. I still had homework and a lesson to plan for seminary. I hustled them to their rooms and bundled up to go clear snow. After a few minutes, little people were on the porch asking if they could please stay up and help me. I passed out shovels and we cleared snow quickly and then played in the snow until 10:30. Maybe not super responsible, and I am sure I paid for it in lost sleep, but in that moment I realized how much I needed to just be with my kids. They talked about night time snow play for weeks. The pictures are dark and crummy, but I am glad that I have this memory.
When Seth goes out of town, the kids sneak into my bed...or Chloe and Alex like to make these beds and sleep on the couch. Chloe's in on the chaise part of the couch, but Alex makes his by pushing the coffee table up to the couch and then padding it with blankets. Seems uncomfortable to me, but he likes it.
Another good memory up next...

I think the pictures of night snow are great! And I don't think it was irresponsible of you. That's the kind of golden memory your kids will cherish. They'll be telling their kids about it, and probably will have fun in the snow at night with their own kids. Plus, who wants to turn down help from kids? Especially for something like shoveling? Super fun!
What a fun night for all of you!
priceless
