So much Halloween it will make you sick!

This was the year that we were supposed to be the Racing Sausages. Everyone was on board and no one had anything else that they would rather be and wouldn't you know it, once I finally got everyone on the same page, I blew it. I just had no time to make it happen but next year, for sure, unless I don't have time to make it happen then either.

We shopped around a couple days before Halloween but didn't like anything we found. I was reminded why I usually shop early and order online. Finally Chloe said she would just wear the USC cheerleader uniform that used to belong to Alyssa. Alex said he would rather wear his jersey and helmet than anything in the store, so all he needed was some yellow football pants, And then there was Alyssa who still had no idea what to do, so we kept shopping. She wasn't sold on anything and she is at the age where kid costumes are too young and teen costumes are too trashy. We did finally realize that all they do for teen costumes is take kid costumes and make them shorter and lower cut. The Disney Princess costumes were short but still not nasty so we looked at a few of those and then suddenly the light went on in all of our brains at the same time...she HAS a short, sparkly Snow White costume from the ice skating show. I have never been one to reuse costumes. I guess I like to have a fun new reveal each year but this year just didn't play out that way and in the end, I was totally okay with it.

So here are the kids all geared up for Trunk or Treat last Friday night.

As usual, there will be more pictures of Chloe than anyone else because she will just keep striking poses until you ask her to please stop.

We were looking for ruby slippers but ended up with these fun sparkly Ronald McDonald boots instead.

 
Sine Alex had a Packers bag Alyssa made a Snow White bag, decorated with little rings turned in to mirrors and apples.

Trick or treating at our car...full sized candy bars in case you can't tell, unless the kids were in High School. Seth would only give them fun sized bars. They begged and pleaded but he told them they were too old.
 
My kids only go once around and got 18 pieces of candy each. There are a zillion people at Trunk or Treat every year so I thinking that most people are not bringing candy to pass out. We got more than enough candy in the end though.

 
For the cake walk you had to walk on super heroes but they had the YM and YW leaders faces. See, Seth is Spiderman.
 
I was the Invisible Woman and this picture helped me to realize that I may not want to go back to blond because I am not liking this. Alex said it is ugly because they stretched my neck and my nose and because I don't usually have boobs so now I am feeling pretty good about myself.

Oh, and speaking of YW, I was released on Sunday. I am now moving to the 16-17 year old Sunday School class. I took a peek in the window and saw 1 girls and 7 boys all sitting on their iPhones so this should be a fun new challenge. I am not sure how to teach boys. Girls, and children and women seem to respond to my stories and cheesy handouts and object lessons and I am not sure what 16-17 year old boys respond to? Any ideas? Have you taught that age group? 
 
Look at the way they killed us off. I knew that dog was going to be the death of me. Oh, and speaking of that dog, he stole lots of candy from one little boys bag that was left down too low. Lots of candy! We found a good dozen wrappers under my bed, Oreos, candy bars, licorice, Starbursts. He had to use the bathroom pretty frequently the next day and once he puked across the room and when I went to clean it up it was all full of wrappers. Alex is sitting over my shoulder while I am typing and he is requesting that I finish this story with...Oh Bernie!

While we were at Trunk or Treat some friends asked if we were going to the party the next night. We had no idea that there was a party so I assumed that meant that we were not invited but my friends quickly showed me our invite on Seth's Facebook page. I really should have him delete that thing because he never looks at it and people end up thinking that we are just not showing up to stuff because we are rude and we end up thinking that we just never get invited to anything. Once we knew there was a party we were happy to jump in, since our friends John and Jackie were hosting and they are awesome. The invite said to come in costume so we decided to all piggyback on Alex's costume.

I know you already saw this the night before but we forgot our eye stickers and had to use crayon so this time we had all the pieces in place.
 
Chloe does not have a Packers cheerleader costume but this outfit that she has looks like one, doesn't it? Still had the USC laces in but whatever.

10 points if you can tell me whose numbers we are wearing without cheating. Oh, and Alyssa is taking the picture because she did not go with us because she had a birthday party to go to that night.






And then came Sunday, when our crazy town goes trick-or treating but what's funny is that most of the county switched to Halloween night this year instead. Only our goofy, little, population 16,000 town did not seem to get the memo and stuck with Sunday. We were invited to go on Thursday night instead with some church friends but I have school on Thursday nights and the kids really wanted to go with the neighborhood kids. This is the first year where they have gone to more than 5 houses before they pooped out and they ended up with quite a haul. One of our neighbors was giving out brand new books which I think may be the new best treat I have ever seen. We were giving out full sized bars again. It was so fun to be the awesome house this year. I think we'd better make it a tradition.
 
We went out with about 25 people but I only managed to get this one picture of Chloe and her friend, Giada.

We probably should have carved pumpkins before trick or treating but we didn't get around to it so we did it on Monday night, which was still in time for the official Halloween night.

 
Alyssa's in supposed to be Snow White's apple, Alex's is Mike from Monsters U because he is obsessed with that movie, and Chloe's is a heart because that is what she wanted. Most of the cleaning and carving ended up being done by mom and dad.

On Halloween I got to spend the day helping at Chloe's Kindergarten Halloween party/parade. The only year they let them dress up is in Kindergarten. And then that evening I went to school. Is that pathetic? All of my carpooling friends stayed home with their families but I went since there was no trick or treating in our town and because I am a crazy grade freak and did not want my score to slip below 100% .Yes I know you can get an A without being at 100% but I am crazy, as in must get the highest score in the class or drop the class altogether, crazy. I did not want to miss school or give up family time so I took my family to Milwaukee with me. I went to class for an hour and then we all went out to Maggiano's which is one of our favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. It was delicious and as you can see from the several Halloween events posted above, no one felt that they missed out on any Halloween fun.
