What We've Been Up To (According to Phone Cam)

Last week I really did have the best of intentions when I said I was going to fish out some pictures to post. I have just been so supremely busy but I have 45 minutes right now and I am going to try to get something on here. So here are the things we have pictures of lately.

We shaved Bernie for the summer. I was terrified to see him because I was sure he would be so ugly but his hair is A LOT of maintenance and it also makes him too warm in the summer. We all burst into fits of laughter when we saw him but I am used to it now and I actually think he looks pretty cute all cleaned up.





Chloe got bit on the face at school one day. Just sharing since I had pics of it on my phone. She thought the girl next to her was leaning over to kiss her cheek at the end of the day but she bit her instead. She said she just did it because she thought it would be funny. It wasn't.

A week later we could still see the bruise.


Alex promoted to a blue belt in TKD which looks almost identical to the old purple belt that he has around his neck here.


Seth accompanied Alyssa on her 5th grade field trip to the Brewers game and of course he does not take pictures ever so all I have to show for the trip is this phone pic I took of them when they came home with matching hats.


Alyssa and Alex had their spring concert at school. They both tried out for speaking parts and did not get them. Alyssa also tried out for one of the small group singing numbers but did not get that either. I am shocked that she tried out because her first year in the program she filed on to the stage and stood facing her back to the audience the whole time but she really wanted to have a part for her last program. She was chosen as the understudy for one of the speaking parts and she was horribly nervous but very excited when the kid whose part it was did not show up. And of course this is the one year where I left the camera at home. Her part was...Ladies and Gentlemen, Please stand in silence while we honor our fallen soldiers. And then she stood with her hand over her heart and led us in a moment of silence while someone in the balcony played Taps on the trumpet. She was thrilled that she got to do it and I was very proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone and continually pursuing a part in the program.  She also helped with the stage decorations, and again all you get are crappy phone shots.

For the first time EVER Alyssa was proud that she was not the last one on to the stage. There is now exactly one 5th grader who is shorter than her but she is still quite tiny and also so very pretty.


The weather FINALLY got warm for a few days (cold again now) and we gobbled up the sunshine. Seth was actually out of town one weekend and I ventured out on a 2.5 mile walk around the Recplex lake with 3 biking kids and a dog. It was an adventure because Bernie wanted to meet every person and dog there, but now I have been walking him there with my friend Lisa and her dog, Dash and he is getting much better.











Here is what Seth was doing in Northern WI, while we were enjoying the sunshine.


Alyssa passed Basic 3 ice skating! When she started skating I told her she had to get to level 4 before I bought her a skating bag because I had heard they were overpriced. After she passed I took her in to the Iceplex store and they told me the price was $50, which was way better than I hoped for, but then they told me if I wanted the frame, which you have to have because it holds the bag together and has the wheels that it would be $100, not total, but additional. What a scam, but I had already committed to buy the bag. And just to make sure they let me know who was boss, they charged me another $20 for a seat cover. How is it that all 3 of my kids managed to pick year round pricey sports? I guess it is a good thing I didn't have more than 3 kids. Congrats Alyssa and you must now stay for at least 4 more levels so that bag gets plenty of mileage.


And the last thing I have pictures of is the Mothers Day program from Chloe's school last night. My last St. Mary's Lutheran Nursery School program. Sniff.



 
Chloe is the tallest kid in her class so she is always a back row Joe.




 
One of the moms at my table asked if we could all take a pic together since our 4 girls have been besties for the past 2 years at St. Mary's. I really will miss this fantastic preschool, and having preschool aged kids. Wah!

Forgive me because I have no time to proofread as I am off for another busy week. I have to run to ballet, and then back home to meet up with Seth who is flying home right this minute, and then we are off to meet up with our fellow Super in Sixers for our celebration dinner, and then tomorrow we have Skating Pictures at noon, and rehearsal at 2:45, all while Seth will be off cooking and prepping for the Scout Fundraiser Dinner tomorrow night, then next week we rehearse the whole skate show on Monday for tech rehearsal, TKD and church on Tuesday, rehearse the whole show again on Wednesday in costume this time, TKD on Thursday and book club which it is my turn to host so I have to find time to clean and cook treats, then Friday is ballet, belt promotions and the Ice Show. Then two more shows on Saturday, one of which my mother in law is flying in for because it is at the same time as the Kenny Chesney concert. Madness, I tell you, and this is pretty much what this whole school year has been like around here. But next Sunday we finally exhale and board a plane for Cancun! I am excited to some degree but I confess that I am also really, really nervous to leave the kids. I know they will be fine with Grandma Ann but it is still not something I like to think about for very long. I am also nervous about Bernie. Ann is not a Bernie fan and I am nervous about him driving her nuts, or having accidents because he isn't used to the change. I just want her to have a good time with the kids and I hope Bernie doesn't add too much stress.

But anyway, I have a child to stuff in to a leotard now, so I really must go.
