Birthday Wishes

Alex is 8 today! Alex really, really loves his birthday so we had to restrict him from talking about it until after Halloween so that he wouldn't drive us all bonkers but for the last 11 days we have heard of nothing else. He wanted to have his party yesterday but since I didn't make invitations until yesterday and just starting planning last night, we had to schedule it for next Saturday so it looks like we will have another week filled with birthday chatter.

So Seth and I got to work trying to bring his vision to life.

The inside...border found online...thank goodness. I always use my home # for RSVP but this time I decided to use my cell in case anyone wanted to text, but as of last night I no longer have a phone (tell you about that tomorrow) so I guess I will just have to plan for everybody and see who shows up.


Since the big party is coming we kept it low key today. He did get to go out to lunch yesterday though. He chose Texas Roadhouse and I didn't even have my camera to get a shot of him in the birthday saddle. I did get a good red faced shot of him on my phone, but remember that I no longer have a phone so you will have to settle for the one that Seth took on his phone.

Today we didn't do much...presents in the morning, pre-baptism interview before church, church (where our friends the Mortons showed up from MN unannounced and I jumped up so excitedly that I tore my nylons to shreds), and then home to have Alex's chosen birthday dinner of crepes. Then he spent the remainder of the evening playing with his birthday gifts.

From his sisters...I admit that I mostly chose that because I thought it could be useful in decorating for his party.

A Lego batcave from me and Seth...yes, this is batcave number 4, but he didn't have the lego one and he has been asking for it since it came out in January.







Happy Birthday Alex! I love the young man you are turning into, but I admit that I sometimes miss those long blond ringlets on that rowdy little toddler who used to leave me completely exhausted everyday. You are growing up WAY too quickly but everyday I am proud of you and deeply grateful to be your mom. Can't wait to party again next week lego style and then again the next week at your baptism.
