Saturday we thought about Six Flags but it was raining so we decided to go check out Discovery World. We bought the membership by phone when we went to MSI in Chicago but still hadn't been to DW. I didn't even have my camera since we kind of just got on the road and then decided where to go. The only problem with the new camera is that it is big so I don't keep it in my purse like I did with the old one. Oh well, I am sure we'll be back, but I did get a few pics with the phone just to document that we went somewhere.
I love when we go to museums and my kids say WHAT IS THAT??? about stuff that I grew up with, like phone booths, and record players and corded telephones. When I was growing up I never would have guessed that one day my life would be old fashioned.
Alyssa and Seth were the only ones brave enough to lay on the bed of nails. 2 pound Alyssa didn't even feel it but Seth said it hurt.
Saturday night Seth's allergies flared up big time so he went to bed as soon as we got home from Milwaukee (6PM) and didn't get up until I was leaving for church at 12:30 the next afternoon. Allergies suck!
Thankfully he was feeling much better on Monday and we FINALLY got over to Six Flags. It opens the first weekend of May but I had the Camp Garage Sale, then the next weekend the Camp Overnighter and last weekend we had a graduation party, a baptism of a family in our ward, and the Youth Talent Show so we have not had a spare moment to go over there.
Since we went on Memorial Day last year and it wasn't horribly crowded we hoped for the same this year and thankfully it wasn't too bad this year either. It was scorching HOT again though. I don't know why Memorial Day is blazing hot every year and then this week we will be back in the 50's again? Weird! But no matter, we ran around and shared sweat with strangers and had a great time in spite of the heat.
We got to the park at 10:30 and at about 2:00 Alyssa told us that our friend's, the Taylors were planning to go to Six Flags that day too, so we sent them a text to see if they were there and if they wanted to meet up. They agreed. Hopefully we didn't infringe on their family time, but they could have dodged our text if they had wanted to, right? So we will assume that they actually wanted to hang out with us. Since we teamed up I even got to sneak off with Heather and ride the new ride, X Flight while the men took kid duty. We tried to reciprocate so the men could ride but Seth rode a spinny ride and after that he was sick the rest of the day. I also HATE spinny rides and accidentally rode the worst one ever (Ragin' Cajun, DO NOT ride that thing!!!) but ever since Seth got vertigo a year and a half ago, anything spinny will trigger it again, so while I got over it after a few minutes, he did not. We still stayed until about 6PM and had lots of fun. Alyssa was one inch too short for the most extreme rides so she was super bummed abut that, but all 3 kids can ride LOTS of stuff this year so it is going to be another awesome Six Flags Summer!
I didn't do too great on pics at Six Flags either. No urgency when you know you will be there every week. I do wish I had taken one of the kids with their buddies though. Next time.

Alyssa rode American Eagle backwards a few times last year but this was her first time to ride forward.
Alex wears a Batman shirt every. single. time. we go to Six Flags. He has several and this time the only clean one was a size 4 but he refused to go in anything else. He also always wants to stand by the Batcar.
Today was Chloe's last day of Little Bears. I totally forgot until last night and I still hadn't done anything for teacher gifts so I dropped her off this morning and ran to Hobby Lobby to look for something. I found these monogram cups for $3.50 and stuffed them with candy bars and then attached a note using the words from the candy bars. My sister says candy bar letters are a Mormon thing? Anyway these were a quick last minute fix and Chloe was very happy to have something to give out at the end of the day.
After school we went on our final after school lunch outing with Kayleigh and Kennon. WAAAAAAH!!!! Kayleigh lives 30 minutes from the preschool so she is going to do Pre-K at her Elementary School instead of coming back for Big Bears. I don't know who is more sad...me or Chloe? But we do have one last outing planned for next Monday while the big kids are still in school so stay tuned and I will tell you all about it soon.
And now I must run to piano and TKD, to round out another busy Tuesday.

So, I know you know this, but Aspen always wore here highest shoes when we went to Dollywood and she was close. I was also at a garage sale and a friend of mine came up and said, "Score! 3 inch platforms, now my daughter can ride the rides!" Super fun! Cedar needs to go to amusement parks with you guys, Nobody but me will ride the scary rides with him and now I can't!

I think it is funny that we were all there on Monday and didn't run into each other... of course we tend to stick to the kiddie ride areas for the most part. I am NOT in any way a thrill ride person. That may be why I love Disney so much- even the scary rides aren't that scary.
We do need to get together sometime down there!
Also, I did the same gift for Abi's teacher for the end of the year! How funny! Great minds...
Sarah, We told Alyssa to wear boots but she said that wasn't honest. I tried to tell her that it just says you have to reach the line. It does NOT say you have to be 54 inches barefoot, but she still thought it was cheating. Our pass does include the one in SLC and the one in TN that we tried to go to last time.
Cheryl, You have already done Abi's teacher gifts? We still have almost two weeks left to think about that. I am such a slacker!
Looks like a fun-filled and busy weekend. Is Discovery World the place we went to where we took the cab and had ourselves quite the adventure? If not, then how come we never went to this different place together? Ouch about the bed of nails.

Jen, We went to the museum of science and industry on our grand cab/train adventure. DW is in Milwaukee across the street from the Children's museum. I never went there before cause I used to have membership to kids museum so if I was in the area I went where I could go for free. Now we have membership to this one instead. Alex has about 15 Batman shirts that fit so he doesn't need anymore. What he needs is a mom who does laundry. Ha,ha!
What a fun Memorial Day. We want to get the year round passes next Christmas for the kids. But I think we'll have to go a couple times this summer. But I'm with Cheryl on the thrill rides. As a kid loved them, after 4 pregnancies I just can't handle them anymore. So we'll go with Cheryl & she & I can watch the kids while you go ride the scary rides. ;)
We had a rainy Saturday and beautiful Monday Memorial Day Weekend here, too. But definitely didn't do anything near as fun as you. I was thinking that for a phone camera, those pictures came out really good! Beginning to think I can leave the big lugger home for most occasions, in fact.
i love candy bar cards. didnt know they were a mormon thing must be cuz we r so creative!! lol. guess i should give in and buy some batman shirts,,,swore i'd never buy character shirts but sometimes kids win!!
We loved running into you guys. We were thinking you were regretting hooking up with us since you ended up going on all the spinning rides! It was nice to get away and hit X Flight again though. We definitely need to do it again...kid free! (:
What a fun weekend! I miss the days when I could ride on the craziest roller coasters and not feel sick at all. Those were the days! :) I wish we had a big theme park close to us.
