Class of 2012

Saturday Night was the Class of 2012 country concert. You may remember this post about the Class of 2011 last year, all full of pictures and lengthy descriptions of the event. This year I failed to take a single picture but I still need to document the event because we FINALLY went on a double date with our friends, Kjel and LeShel.

We have been friends for a couple of years and have spent lots of time together through work and callings and other social gatherings but never managed to pull off a one on one outing and since I always say that LeShel is supposed to be my lifelong friend it was time to hang out. Seth and Kjel work together now and Seth is a dangerous person to be around if you aren't super social, because he will drag you out of your comfort zone and thank goodness because I don't think I have had any friends in the last 12 years that he didn't beg to hang out with me.

LeShel and I are made from the same mold, which you will be able to fully understand if you read her post about the concert and my crazy comment on her post. She is super open and honest about everything and I love it because until I knew her I wondered if I was alone in the world with my social anxiety. What seems so effortless for everyone else has always been very hard for me and I have always felt like somebody else must understand and just be masking it really well so I am grateful for a friend who does not put a mask on anything. It makes me feel normal and it makes her super fun to talk to because what other people look at me funny for saying she actually takes in and responds to.

I was worried that they wouldn't have fun with us, or think the concert was lame, but we all had a great time so I do hope they will come play with us again SOON.

The acts that were playing this year were not as interactive with the crowd or each other as last year's group, but there was still some major talent there. We saw...

Jana Kramer- Apparently she was Alex on One Tree Hill but I have never seen that show. She had a cold so I have to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I didn't really connect to her or her music although she did have one good song.


Casey James- He was the one who took off his shirt at Kara's request during his American Idol audition a few years ago. That was the last season of Idol I watched. His voice is definitely passable but his guitar skills are SICK. We were all ready to pull our kids out off all other extra curricular activities and put them in guitar.

The Lost Trailers- Their music wasn't my favorite but they were. They were the most fun to watch and they were super pumped to be there which always gets the crowd going. They also gave us their CD and stickers for free just for showing up and that always earns points. For that they get one video embedded.

Edens Edge- They actually have a song on the radio right now, called Amen, that I had heard before. They were one of our favorites. I can't find my fave song that they did, called Last Supper, but here is Amen.


Kip Moore- I think he was unanimously the favorite of the night. I had never heard of him but he has a cool raspy voice and I loved two of his songs. One, called I'll let Her he has not even recorded and is not even putting it on his first album....what? I found it on YouTube though and hopefully he will change his mind and release it eventually.


Laura Bell Bundy- This girl starred in Legally Blonde and Hairspray on Broadway and I looked her up and found out that she was also in Jumanji way back when. She seemed very Broadway but I didn't care too much for her as a country singer. She clogged through an entire song which was odd since it is a seated acoustic style performance.

So now we'll see if any of those acts ever make it big. We still get excited when we hear songs from last year's group. It is so fun to watch them at this stage when they are still performing strictly for the love of music. And it was SO fun to have company this year!

And while I am blogging about recent events that I failed to take pictures of, here are a couple pics from our Beehive party.

We had two girls missing but here is the rest of the hive. We have 5 more coming in this year and only one moving up to the next class.

Adults included. Jessica is to the far left and next to me is Raylene, our YW President who was also in the Primary Presidency with me. Such awesome people to spend my Sundays with. The girls are talking more all the time and yesterday they had me laughing out loud during the lesson a couple times. I hope the reverence police don't come around because we are having way too much fun.

I stole a whole stack of pics from Jessica's blog and saved them all somewhere on my computer and can't find them now? Weird. You can see more on Jessica's post. She documented the whole event.

And one last thing...could this postseason have been any more disappointing? Ugh! Who the heck are we supposed to root for in the Superbowl? Last time the Giants and Patriots played in the Superbowl I pulled for the Giants. The Patriots were so hyped up so I went for the underdog, and of course I love NY. I still don't like the Patriots because I get so sick of hearing about how Tom Brady is the best when HELLLLO...Aaron Rodgers if the BEST! But I am SO mad at the Giants right now. I could forgive them trouncing us once to get their ring, but not twice. What to do?
