Day Four- A habit I wish I didn't have
Good thing I started biting my nails again, because that has been my go-to, standard answer to this question all my life.
I want to quit biting my nails. It is gross, and it is ugly. I was born with super wrinkly old lady hands and they look even worse when my nails are all chewed up.
I also talk too much. I like to talk, even public speaking. I like to share stories. I hope I will always be a talker. I just wish I didn't nervous talk, and that I didn't interrupt other people. I wish I listened more and I would like to learn to shut up when my turn was up, or my point was made, or when the question had already been answered.
So.....

Good luck with the nail biting. Gabe does it and I am always telling him to stop. Hasn't realy worked so far. Nothing wrong with talking either, it is people like you who fill that ackward silence that I hate.
I love being friends with talkers...they crack me up! One thing after another and on and on and on! (But you aren't like that at all:)
Ugh! My nails are SO bad right now, they would probably make you feel better about yours. I also have the talking thing and always feel like a dunce when I hang with my one friend who doesn't ever say much...Dave says she probably appreciates it though.
That is why it's best when WE all hang. Everyone talks, laughs and listens at the same time and no one has to second guess anything they say or do...
Val, when we all hang out Seth's head spins. He says that we all talk at once and never even listen to each other, but I hear every word you guys say. I guess we all like to talk so much that we have gotten really good at talking and listening at the same time. Plus, we can get in so many more conversations in our limited time together if we all talk at once.
I love chatty, friendly, talkative people. It's a relief to me to be with people who carry the conversation.
I'm always drawn to people who are more outgoing than I am. And if I find some who are chatty, friendly, talkative, and good at listening I count myself lucky.
There was a funny show on and the character said that he loved to listen. It was his hobby. But everyone thought he was ridiculous.
Anyway, I know you're a good listener. You pay attention and ask questions. I also think you're smart and interesting and I love reading learning all these new things about you.
I had a question for you, too. You wrote you hate vegetables. How do you feel about fruit?
I hate fruit and am wondering if you do, too.
I'm definitely a non talker. It can be painful for me sometimes just to make conversation. Maybe that is my bad habbit. I don't really work hard at changing it though, because I actually really enjoy silence.
Leslie, I actually do like fruit, better than veggies anyway. I literally gagged a few weeks ago when I tried to eat a raw carrot with nothing on it. I can't handle veggies. I don't eat a ton of fruit, but I like apples with peanut butter and I really like strawberries in the summer (usually with Nutella). And....I do like bananas. I know how you feel about bananas, but when I am trying to be healthy I will eat a bowl full of cut up bananas and strawberries and I think it is yummy and filling. I can not handle a banana in a smoothie though, they get all slimy and just thinking about it makes me queasy.
Sally, Silence is fine if I am reading a book, but silenece in a room full of people is so awkward to me. Kudos to you if you can sit silently in a group and be comfortable with it. I am not confident enough for that, so I run my mouth and look like a fool instead.
You need to STOP BITING THOSE NAILS!! I've seen what your nails are capable of, so it's very disappointing to see you ruin them (do I sound like your mother yet). Remember, I was coveting your gorgeous nails before you went chewed them all off.
You definitely are a talker, but so am I. I don't know how either of us get a word in edgewise when we're together, but we manage. It's good to know that you can talk and listen at the same time because I know there are multiple times where we're both running our mouths at the same time. What's going to happen when I move? Sniff, sniff.
Jen, I like that you are also a talker. I may talk over you sometimes but at least I am not painfully trying to draw out the conversation. You would think I wanted silent friends so that I could talk, but I hate awkwardness and having to make up stuff to talk about to fill the awkwardness, so I prefer to be with talkers. And I'll tell you what's going to happen when you move. I am going to sit in the house and look at the walls because everyone else I know is too shy to stalk me until I answer the phone.
