Tuesday we decided to go to Knott's Berry Farm. I love Knott's. It is never crowded and it has some fun coasters. So what if it is slightly gangster. It is always a good time. I hardly took any pictures because we kept splitting up into smaller groups and taking turns with the kids. I got a few of Luke and Chloe in Camp Snoopy, and that was about it.
Alyssa really enjoyed Knott's because she is a coaster enthusiast. She kept running off with any adult who was willing to take her on another one. At one point she was with my mom and wanted to go on Supreme Scream. No way was my mom getting on that, so Alyssa asked her if she would just wait for her while she rode it alone. Alone! Supreme Scream is that scary sucker that lifts you up a billion feet and then just drops you as you dangle over the pavement. She wasn't tall enough though, which is funny since we have that ride at our Six Flags and she rode it this summer. Oh well, as a mother I was relieved to hear that she didn't get on that thing alone. Who would have held her hand and made sure her skinny bod didn't slip right out?
The park was only open from 10:00 to 6:00 that day, so at 5:30 we decided to head out. Kristen and Steven talked us all into one more family ride. We agreed, and boarded the mine train. When the ride ended it started pouring rain. We were soaked by the time we got to our cars. Darn mine train.
Here are the few shots I have of the day.
Apparently in this next one, there were two totally different, but equally exciting things worth looking at in the park.
My mom had to scrunch into this car when we learned that Chloe and Luke were too little to go alone. I was holding Audrey and all the other adults were off doing coasters, so Luke had to get in a different car with a stranger. He didn't mind. My kids would have gone nuts.
My mom bought this souvenir picture because she was amused that the people behind them in the log were getting frisky. She ended up blacking them out before scanning and forwarding it to me.
Day 13: Wednesday, the 24th
We headed over to Seal Beach to meet up with my dad at Grandma King's house. We looked through her photo albums and laughed at Grandma King's wit and sarcasm. The usual. We also went to lunch, and then the kids started losing their cool so we decided we'd better get them out of Grandma King's hair. I did actually get her to pose for a couple pictures. She is jumpier than I am about having her picture taken. I actually think I get a lot of my little quirks from Grandma King. I don't mind, because I got just a little bit of her funny, too.
After we got back to Downey, Valerie and I left the kids behind and went to the craft store, in search of some Thanksgiving Day distractions for the kids. I told Valerie I thought it would be cute to make an apron for my mom that said Grandma's Little Turkeys. Since Valerie is a former preschool teacher, she knew exactly how to make that happen. Super cute, but Grandma never did have any need of an apron on Thanksgiving Day.
After the apron was set out to dry, we shuffled kids into bed, left my mom and Glenn in charge, and went out to dinner. It was the meal of the trip. My hometown has some great food, and easily the best Chinese food I have ever had. It is Seth's favorite place in California. We went with the fried dumplings, chicken lo mein, shrimp fried rice and Mongolian Beef. It was seriously so good that every few minutes one or two of us could not help but comment about it. If you ever go to Downey, CA, check out Peking China on Downey Ave.
Alright, we are almost there. Just one last post.

I love that pic of the kids with GK, we should frame a copy of it for her.
I didn't know that Luke had to ride with a stranger? He said it was a kid though...a kid with "fuzzy hair" to be exact.
The pointing fingers in different directions photos is classic! I miss Knotts Berry Farm - Your posts make me hungry to return to southern California. It's been forever!
Now I SO need Chinese tonight! Once again, cute post--looks like quite the trip! Love that smoking bear...
Wow, did you guys ever relax? Glad you got to see your Grandma and give the opportunity for the kids to get to know their Great Grandma better. Not many kids have that chance.
