I just got the link to our family pictures, in case you want to see them.
Alyssa was driving me a little bit nuts that day, because she is suddenly very camera shy. Whenever anyone tries to take her picture, she closes her eyes and rubs them, and insists it is too bright or too windy. We had major issues getting her to open her eyes, and to stop growling at us when she was asked to pose. I am frustrated because she is old enough to cooperate, but at the same time I completely relate to freaking out about being put on the spot. Just a month or so ago, the Relief Society President came up and tried to take my picture for the ward bulletin at a Thursday night activity. I DO NOT want my picture in the ward bulletin, and I definitely did not want to stop and pose right then and there. I literally spent the rest of the night dodging her at every turn, so I can't fault Alyssa for what she inherited from me. I just wish she knew how beautiful she is. I wish she would own that. If anyone could get away with striking a pose, it is Alyssa.
In spite of our setbacks, I do think Jen captured some cute pictures. I even like a few of me. If you know me, then you know that I have liked exactly two pictures of me in my whole adult life, so that is saying something.
You will have to tell me which one you like best of the whole family. I initially really liked number 8, and then realized that Seth and the girls look angry about something. I still love that one of me and Alex though. And of course the one that I think looks best of everyone else (5), is the one where I look a bit stiff. I also picked a favorite of each kid (9,17,22). You can tell me whether or not you agree, if you care to look that closely. AND I like the one of just me and Seth. I almost refused to pose for that one. I felt so silly without a kid on my lap to hide behind. I am really not comfortable in pictures, so I was sure I would look like a stone gargoyle, but I like it. I believe I will make Seth put it on his desk at work.

P.S. I noticed when we first got Alyssa's hair cut that it was uneven, but I thought it was no big deal. I can't even tell with my camera most of the time, but WOW is it obvious here. Oops...I better go get that fixed. Maybe that is why she wouldn't smile?

I agree - 8 is adorable of you and Alex. You'll have to crop the others out of that one and just keep it for you.
I love all the pictures. She did a great job. Your family is so beautiful I'll bet she loved doing it, too.

Great pictures! I've never regretted once any of the pictures we got with all the family. I only regret not having done it more.
I will have to vote in a little bit, Little Miss is knocking loadly on her door...
But I just had to tell you of our picture taking experience yesterday. Liz gets half price school pictures so I took Little Miss down to her school, and we had practiced how to sit and pose for the camera-she was ready. Then two seconds before the click she winked! Then she refused to pose again! So we are going to get a professional picture of Little Miss winking. I can't wait to post it, it fits her personality, but still...
I see what you mean on 8. Maybe you could photoshop the others from #7 and keep you and Alex from #8?
For family pictures I definitely like those two and number 1 the best.
Number 25 is pretty funny though. Was he really on the phone or just playing around?
I agree on Alex #9 although #13 is really sweet too.
17 is really cute of CHloe although my very favorite picture of her in the whole bunch is #3!
I really like #20 of Alyssa . #22 is super cute too. It's funny how now that you showed that picture of her the other day I am really seeing Seth in her.

Oh- and you're lucky you were able to avoid the Relief society picture. She caught me in the hallway at church when I had to take Maddy out of class. Sitting there on the couch with my kid squirming on my lap I couldn't think of an excuse!

I agree with your favorites except I like pic #24 of Alyssa. It shows off her beautiful face and the uneven hair actually looks cool like you did it on purpose.
You look really good! I like the way your hair is and that top is super cute. You definitely don't need to be doing the 30 day shred...that is for sure!
3 weeks from today!! I think this is the longest I have gone without seeing you guys so I am more excited than ever!!

When we got our family pictures back, I was so bothered by Kaden because he did not smile with his teeth. He was all into "smirking" at the time, but I had told him to smile with his teeth because he had not mastered a subtle smirk-it looked more like a scowel. Well, I was so worried about my little two that I neglected to keep reminding him. Needless to say, most of our pictures have a little half smile half scowel. I was SO disappointed because he has such a great smile. :( oh well, next time!

Julie, I think Alex looks grown up everytime I cut his hair. Give it a few weeks to grow out and he will look like my shaggy little guy again. I know what you mean about not taking family pictures enough. I have tons of my kids, and Seth even, but none of all of us. I am excited to finally have evidence that we existed as an entire family unit.
Emily, I am excited to see that picture. Those ones are the best in the long run. Silly kids!
Cheryl, I also love # 3 of Chloe, but Alyssa is being weird in that one. Seth was not really on the phone. Since the bench had two backward facing seats, we thought it would be funny to pretend he was ignoring us. That picture pretty much sums up our picture experience though. I am posing because I am the one who really wanted to be there. Seth is avoiding the situation (which is why in 10 years this is our first picture) and the kids are giggling at him. I am glad I forced them all to do it anyway. Oh, and I did get my RS picture taken. At some piont during the night I was talking to LeShel and Sister Silva leaned over her shoulder and took my picture. That is going to be one awful picture. I was probably in mid-sentence. I should have just posed when she asked me to.
Valerie, The 30 day shred turned into the 2 day shred since I have now been sick for over a week. I am not meant to work out. It is official. I do still have 30 days til my b-day to complete the shred, but what are the odds that I will do it in CA?
Katie, I relate to your frustration. Why is it that kids can never cooperate on picture day?

So glad we finally did this, and I feel honored to be your first, official family photographer. You need to quit being so critical of yourself because you look gawgeous in every single picture. Even the ones with the kids not looking "perfect" in the pictures whether it be smiling right or looking right at the camera is what makes each picture unique and captures true personalities. Just look around my house and tell me which ones have every single subject in the picture looking and smiling at the camera. Try none! You just gotta take what you can get with kids.
