Today I decided on Apple Holler, a massive apple orchard. For apple picking we go to a no frills, straight-up, apple only orchard. We never pick at Apple Holler because it is usually a mad house, but it is a fun place to play. We have done hayrides, and the Easter celebration, and we LOVE the weekend breakfast buffet, but there is a whole kiddie section that we had never bothered to check out. Today was the day.
To my surprise and delight, there was hardly anyone there. Usually during picking season you end up parking 1/4 mile down the road, and since it was also half day, I thought we were in for a nightmare. I am so glad I didn't talk myself out of going.
We had such a great day. One of our best half day field trips yet.
Alyssa had to start and end the day by feeding the goats. Alex and Chloe were not about to join. I think Alex was even trying to pull her back from the goat.

Fun! I haven't been there for a while but we've spent plenty of time there too.
I always have to have someone get in those face cutout things anywhere I go that has them.
I so wish I was there right now. Love that Alex was trying to protect his sister, love Alyssa's smile with all those teeth, love Chloe's cheesy smile (where does she get that?) and love the Children of the Corn shot.
That pic of Alyssa's back while she feeds goats looks like "high school Julie..." the long sleeve dress with tights, bob haircut, boots! My favorite cut out picture is Alex as the little apple man, that cracks me up!
I am SO excited for Fall and can't wait for the pumpkin patch! Ours opens this weekend.
I love Alyssa's outfit. That looks like something Lexie would wear. For some reason I also like the crazy patterns together. Although I would never try to pull it off myself. Looks like so much fun too.
Wish we could have been there! You know how much I like Apple Holler--best sausages on the planet on their breakfast buffet! The kids are so cute and growing up way too fast!
How have I not been to Apple Holler in the 2.5 years that we've lived here. Mimi just got her field trip permission slip to go there. Maybe I'll drag you and Chloe there with us next week. Looks like you guys had a great time. And what fun shots!

Half-day field trips is a great idea! Was there a bomb threat you hadn't heard about for the place to be so quiet, or is everyone waiting for the ONE day to go when you can't move for the shoulder-to-shoulder visitors? Great fun for all of you! Love all the cutouts. What fun memories you are making.
