Remember this old post?
Well, I have successfully avoided the treadmill since the now infamous beach ball incident.
Today I was looking at a picture of me and Seth with Alyssa, on her blessing day (September 2002). Here have a look with me.
My second thought was WOW, we were skinny. Skinnier with a two month old baby than I am now with a 2 1/2 year old baby.
I would say that the past 8 years have not been kind, but in truth and gratitude, they have been very kind. I just had no idea that my hips had expanded as much as my happiness. I still weigh what I weighed that day and I still wear the same size clothing, so I have been deceived into thinking all was well, but my body does not look like that anymore. Neither does my face, but I am okay with the laugh lines. They tell a story. The muffin top though, well he has nothing interesting to say.
Since this picture lit a fire under me, I decided to jump on the treadmill before it burned out. I waited until 11:00 PM when everyone was in bed. At 11:30ish Miss Alyssa wandered downstairs to tell me she couldn't sleep. She can never sleep. She has my curse. Anyhow she started wandering around behind the treadmill kicking at a pink balloon. I asked, "Alyssa, please stop. Don't you remember what happened when Alex kicked the beach ball over here?". In that exact second the balloon disappeared beneath the treadmill and blew up in the engine. I tried to get all the pieces of rubber out of the motor but I am still getting a funky sound and smell when I turn on the treadmill.
I ran upstairs and woke Seth up to vent my frustration. Then I sat down and started laughing to myself and thinking how bizarre it was that this has happened twice. I looked up that old post to see how long ago it had been since I last exercised and had to pinch myself when I saw the date. June 23, 2009. Exactly one year ago. Exactly!
So, I guess that means I've got my annual workout in. Just kidding, but maybe I should stick with the bike from now on?
*The photo was taken pre-digital camera so I had to scan it from my scrapbook. I don't know why Seth has blotches on his face. In the actual photo, he does not. I tried 3 times, but the scanner insisted on leaving those marks?
What do you know? Seth scanned the picture and it looks mostly normal now.

That is bizarre!!
That picture makes it look like Seth is wearing lipstick!!
Crazy. You need a net around that thing.
Yes, I think that is officially an omen that you are not meant to be a treadmill girl. :o) I can't believe that. I wish I had such a bizarre excuse...
I think you should officially declare June 23 as a couch potato day. I can't believe that could happen once, yet alone twice and on the same day. I feel like humming the Twilight zone theme song. And just for the record, you look beautifully trim, with or without a day of exercise a year.
Erin, I almost gave this a Twilight Zone theme song title, but couldn't think of how to type it so everyone would know what I was talking about. I like the idea of having an official couch potato day,=. Although....maybe these types of calamities would follow me every day if I tried to work out? Do I dare chance it, or just hold tight to my excuse?
Super funny. As I started reading the post and I saw "treadmil" and "beach ball", along with the red on Seths face in the pic, I figured it was him on the treadmil and he tripped somehow on a beachball, giving his face roadrash lol. I have a very imaginative mind apparently. And as far as the pic goes YOU LOOK THE EXACT SAME!!!! just darker hair. I don't know what you're lookin at! I'd love to have your "muffin-top" as you call it. You're on crack! :)
Go figure you'd have that happen to you twice. That's why you need to join the gym with me. C'mon, get on it...NOW! I'm waiting.
Not to sound insulting, but you guys really do look so YOUNG in that picture. You both still look so awesome though, just a little different is all. I'm sure I'd cry if I saw pictures of me from that time. This baby weight is kicking my butt:(
