Anyhow, the turnout wasn't quite what it usually is and the place was covered in mud and slushy cow pies. But we trudged through it. My pants and shoes acquired a fair amount of bovine waste as a souvenir this year.
I had a good time in spite of it. Who doesn't love to sit in a barn and eat off of tables put together with haystacks and boards. That is good authentic Wisconsin living.
We must start with the most important picture in all of Dairy breakfastness. They cook the eggs in a massive pan and use dustbins to stir them, hopefully not the ones they use in the barn.

Alex, Alyssa and John getting their Dairy breakfast faces on.

Katelin, Sara and Jared (who has to be photographed sneakily which means he doesn't get to pose)

Chloe grubbing...her sport of choice!

Don't they look excited about a room full of stinky calves.

Me and Chloe seizing the photo op moment on the tractor.

More of our Kodak moment

Then my two outdoorsy, animal people fed some cows.

Me and Alex? Not so much...but we didn't complain about the cow crap so we get some country folk bragging points for that, right?

This cow kept sticking its head out to give Chloe a look.

Alex playing in the pit of soybeans. They bury tokens in pits of corn, sawdust and soy beans and you get prizes for finding them.

Alyssa treasure hunting!

Soybeans in flight!

Sara willingly laid down to be buried in the beans but she didn't look super excited about it.

Chloe was a little unsure about the soy bean pit but she eventually warmed up.

So we stayed at the breakfast until closing time (10 AM) because we are serious breakfasters. Do you like all my made up words with the root word breakfast today?
Of course the cow heaps inspired our fisherman Jared to go fishing for "an hour" after breakfast. He asked if Seth could come play and maybe share a Big Gulp. We know that an hour is different in fishing standard time so instead of sitting around complaining about absent husbands me and Katelin hung out, after I bravely returned to Walmart to purchase those ridiculous Fathers Day items that got abandoned yesterday.
And here is how the rest of the day looked. I sat on the back patio with Katelin chatting while our kids played and fought and added dirt, popsicle, pizza and cookie mess to the cow dung they were already wearing.

I didn't care one bit...I was busy overstaying my welcome and gabbing with my friend who is moving away, of course!

So there you have it. One more lovely day in the life of a Wisconsinite.

No tornados today. Great job! Looks fun. I hate cycling through friends, but one thing that comes out of it all is the realization that your one best friend will always be with you!
No, you didnt scare us away. We just couldnt find you! Maybe you heard my kids...they were the ones crying about the stinky smell and cow dung all over. I guess we havent lived in WI long enough.
Well, I couldn't have said it better myself, except for that overstaying your welcome bit--it was a lot of fun, and I know it's important for our husbands to have their date time. I think it's our turn, though, except I'm not sharing a drink, no offense! Or we should just make them take the kids fishing next time--I bet that'd be a short hour!
I love that pic of the cow chatting with Chloe. I want to bite her fat little feet after looking at these pictures!
Once again, it is time for me to defend myself. I have never in my life put a time limit on a fishing trip. That must have been Seth's doing. Furthermore, we did not share a Big Gulp. However, later in the afternoon, Seth did take a sip of my limonata as we sat under the umbrella at the open-air Italian bistro. Just so everybody doesn't bother me about this, I must state that this time, I wiped off the can before I resumed drinking. Not exactly what I'd call a "date."
Jared
Looks fun. I completely forgot about the breakfast. OOps. When I got your email I thought to myself, "Oh this is what she was telling me about. I'll have to see if Doug wants to go." and then it fell out of my head until right now. Maybe next year.
I really wanted to be able to go, but the storms changed everything. My out-of-town family guests decided to stay in a hotel the night before, and the girls and I had to go meet them at the zoo the next morning. We didn't have enough time to sneak in the dairy breakfast. Hopefully, we'll be able to attend next year (if there is one?!?).
