With just 9 days until my 9th wedding anniversary I seem to have lost my wedding ring. I misplace it all the time (shame on me) but this time I am afraid it is really gone.
The last time I remember seeing it was last Monday, so 8 days ago now. I wish I could just leave it on my finger but I can't stand to wear it when I shower, put on lotion or cook so it gets removed a lot.
Usually if I can't find it, Seth can. But we have turned the house upside down two nights in a row and we still can't find it. We have emptied every drawer in the house, every cupboard and even went through the toys, over and over and over...
Seth keeps saying we will find it but I am getting worried. I am not big into "things". I am attached to very few material things, mostly because I can't stand clutter so I don't hang on to anything just for sentimental reasons. I think my ring and pictures are the only non-living things I would just hate to lose. Everything else can be replaced.
I know you can replace a wedding ring, sort of. Lots of people change rings as the years go on but I have always been kind of bugged by that. The ring I got when I got married is my wedding ring. How can you upgrade or improve on the original. A new ring would just be an impostor. A new ring hasn't been here for 9 years, 3 kids, 5 homes...
I am starting to think Santa snatched it. (hee hee)

I totally agree with you about rings. I would never want another ring unless I absolutely had to get one.

Oh No!!! I remember when Seth was picking it out, and how he somehow "knew" just what you wanted, and how your mom was impressed by it. I hope it does show up!
Awww Julie, that stinks. I hope you find it. Dont mean to sound super cheasy, but have you prayed about it though? (I'm sure you have). Maybe Seth is playing a cruel joke and you'll find it under the christmas tree! Okay, just kidding. Good luck and hope you find it very soon!
I am so sorry! I tried to think of places, here are some thoughts, in your sweeper vac, behind the toilet, in the crayon box, in your camera case, in a pocket, on top of the tv, next to the floor cleaner, in a shoe, in a glove, in the cup holder in the van, under the rug, behind the cereal, down a heater vent, between the washer and drier, behind a dvd, in the band-aid box, in your sock drawer, in the wipes box or maybe the bottom of the dishwasher. Sarah, I have actually checked all of those places and then some. I am 99% sure I put it in my sock drawer. I always put it in my sock drawer or the medicine cabinet. I have searched through every article of clothing in every drawer in the entire house. I am afraid I probably knocked it out of my drawer somehow and it got dragged away to who knows where. We have looked behind, and in every appliance and crawled around on the floor. Seth even emptied the vacuum bag and sifted through it all by hand.
And Margie, of course I have prayed. That is probably what makes me most nervous. Usually when I pray to find something I think of a place to look right away. The fact that I still can't find it makes me afraid that it is really gone, down the toilet, or thrown away or something.
That is the worst. I have done it once, I looked down and noticed my ring was gone. It got really loose and just fell off somewhere. I prayed because there was no way I could know where it fell off. But wouldn't you know it I found it in one of my drawers after putting some clothes away it came off. I was so relieved. I feel the same way. If Corey were to buy me another ring, it would just be a gift, no way could it replace the ring that he originally gave me. Good luck with finding it.
Oh Julie! I really am so sorry! At least it's just a thing and not your actual marriage. You and Seth are so good together. The ring was a symbol of how much he loved you when he proposed, if he were to replace it with a symbol of how much he loves you now, I don't think you could hold your hand up with the weight of the diamonds he would have to put on it. I do hope that some day it turns up. It is a beautiful ring.
So I am sure you totally care, but this post totally made me think of an old perfect strangers episode. It was Thanksgiving and Larry and Balky decide to buy live turkeys and sell them and then Larry's wife loses her ring while cooking and the turkeys had got loose in the house and so they use a metal detecter on the turkeys cause they are sure it got eaten then all sorts of comedy trying to find it and then it was in her jewelry box the whole time. See, I told you you would care.
A Perfect Strangers reference? That is awesome! Anyway, I think Seth is playing a Christmas trick. Or...Big Al may have some insight.
