I think you all know that Alex was a LATE talker. He didn't even speak in sentences until he was almost 3. He still has a hard time putting words together sometimes and he still has problems pronouncing things correctly. He gets really frustrated if someone doesn't understand him and even more upset if someone pretends to understand him. He is not dumb...he can tell when you are just smiling and nodding. So, when he talks to people I usually stay close by to translate if I need to.
But...yesterday, when he went to get a haircut, he talked to the lady the whole time. I stood by listening and she didn't need my help to understand him once and she was even giving him real answers to his questions so I could tell she really truly understood him. I was so proud watching my little guy chat away.
Just as I was getting carried away in my pride I heard Alex tell the stylist, "My food turns into poop." Suddenly I wished he hadn't been speaking quite so clearly. Oh well, at least everyone in the salon got a good laugh.
Then, as we were just finishing up and the stylist was trimming around Alex's ears, he starts accusing her of trying to cut his ears off. He turns and tells me, "she better not cut my ears off because you and Daddy built me." It was too funny.

"you and Daddy built me" That is too cute. James has had some speech problems also. Mostly just trouble pronouncing certain letters. When he was 2 he said D instead of S so he ended up calling Samm Damm. Kids are good entertainment.
Don't you just love the things that kids say sometimes!! Oh and that is the name that we both could agree on and both liked. So I better just keep it in case he decides on Lafonda.
Dave thought this was so funny! I guess he is always on the blog while I'm at work due to Luke's obsession with Al.
