Alright so I can't think of a clever title to play off of the color purple, but Alex tested for his purple belt in Tae Kwon Do tonight. This is his 6th belt in TKD and after 6 more promotions he will be a black belt. Crazy!
I have videos of his form and his 3 board breaks but after an hour they still only say 2% loaded so I am giving up on posting those. I apologize to the two people who would have actually watched them.
The only action that I took still shots of was weapons. He performed his Bahng Mahng Ee strikes with his friend, Jenna.
He also sparred with Jenna. Sparring is not his best event because he hates to hit people so he mostly defends or pulls back and stops his kicks/hits right before they connect. Such a gentleman, but it is martial arts...you have to hit!

It was tough to get back in to the swing of things after the summer off, and with the new time sucking puppy, but we are finally back on track and getting our practice time in again and happy to be moving up through the ranks again. Congrats Alex!

The Amazing Alex is really becoming quite the Tae Kwon Do expert. I'm sure he'll be a black belt in no time. After seeing his splits in person, I know that he has been working hard on his skills. Again, I'm so impressed to see him progress and be so excited about such a difficult thing. Ha, I think it's funny that they went from GB belts to Vikes belts. Way to go, Alex! And start kicking some butt!
P.S. I'm sure it is difficult for Alex to get over hitting/kicking a girl. I had a friend in elementary who was a karate star, and she totally got that boys would hold back when competing against her. And she definitely used it to her advantage. I remember going to one of her tournaments, and all the boys she beat (which was EVERYONE she competed against since she was the only girl at her level) would cry after getting beaten by her. So tell Alex that story, and maybe he won't so bad next time to kick a girl's butt;)

Congrats to Alex!! I know how much they love getting those upgraded belts. Pretty soon he will be the one putting the belts on the kids.
Way to go! That's super cool. Guess what? I FINALLY put my kids in TKD! We are only at orange belt, but they are all loving it! :)
