Day 8- Treasure Hunt

This day I got home 10 minutes before the kids came home from school so I hurriedly wrote some rhyming clues and sent them on a treasure hunt for some junk food.

Day 10- Christmas Tree!

We were waiting for snow but it is not happening. I am pretty sure you all have me to thank for that. We finally got a snowblower so it will probably never snow again. Just an appendage to Julie's law.

As soon as it hit the ground Chloe ran over to embrace it.

I guess that icy frost on the window is the closest thing we are going to get to snow this year.

Day 11- Elf Movie Party

I put this on the calendar for Sunday because most other days we do not have time for a movie. As it turns out, we were at church until 4:30 for Bishopric training so when we came home we had to choose between movie night and the Packers game. We have watched every game all year, but we did the right thing and recorded it so we could hang with the kiddies. The game was a blowout anyway, but we still watched it after our elves were in bed.

At my friend/cousin in law, Makinzee's Halloween party, her friend dressed as Buddy the Elf and for his potluck dish he brought Buddy's favorite foods, candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup. I thought that was so funny and knew that had to be our menu for Elf. We did throw in some eggs and bacon just to guard ourselves from Child Protective Services.

Day 12- Christmas Family Home Evening

This time we read and discussed this story from the Friend magazine and then we made a graham cracker nativity. You can find step by step instructions here. It was SO easy. Seth built the structure and me and the kids built the people and animals. Even Chloe could do it. In fact, yesterday she spent some time adding to it while the kids were at school. She added what she is calling The Nephites and they are sitting on horses. I'm trying to explain that the Nephites weren't there but hey, at least she added religious figures and not elves or something.

Day 13- Dinner with Santa's Rein-beer

I was looking for easy since it was Tuesday and these were EASY, like done in 2 minutes easy. I wanted to do these for neighbor/friend gifts this year but I am pretty sure everyone in the world has seen them already on Pinterest, so I will probably just neglect neighbor gifts again this year.

As you can see, these two thought they were hilarious.

And Alyssa was playing reindeer games. The other two couldn't quite get thier antlers on so I had to add some for them.

Now I am off to get started on today's adventure. The only bad thing about this whole Grinch thing is that the kids really think either the Grinch, or some anonymous stranger is doing all this. They keep wondering if the Grinch will reveal his true identity at the end. First Santa steals my thunder and now I accidentally gave all the credit to the Grinch. Oh well, we are having so much fun.

I should mention that we are also doing the Christmas ABC countdown in the Friend this month. We are doing it in place of our regular scripture study and the kids are enjoying that very much as well. Be back soon with more updates.

If anyone else is doing something similar, please post so I can snag ideas from you. My sister is doing an activity countdown and we have been sharing ideas every day. I am using one of her ideas today, if I can get it done in time, and it is going to be fun.
