I can't sleep. This time it is my fault, since I stayed up until the wee hours of Sunday morning preparing a talk for Sacrament meeting and Sharing Time for Primary. In retrospect, I always think I should start these things before 10:00 on Saturday night, but in real time, I don't believe I ever will.
My late night made me very sleepy after church. I am always sleepy after church (do spiritual things make you tired?) so the lack of sleep intensified my need for a nap. Only now, it seems that a 3 hour nap was unwise. Oh well, it felt SO good.
Since I can't sleep, I guess I will introduce you to some exciting new finds. I have lots of favorite things, but these are all newbies on the favorite list this week.
Creationary
The day that Chloe and I spent at the hospital with Seth, we spent some time flipping through Family Fun magazine. I found a list of the 10 best toys for Christmas. We had actually received the number 7 toy from my dad, a Lego house that comes with instructions for three different types of houses. We already built one of them and I have to agree with Family Fun. It is a great toy. The number two toy on their list was Creationary, also by Lego. How had I not heard of this? It is like Pictionary, only you draw a card and build whatever is on the card out of Legos. So fun, and since the cards have pictures rather than words, we can all play. My creations are pretty lame, and Seth's are so good they could get up and walk off the table, but we all have fun. The kids want to play every night.
The rest of today's selections come from Saturday's trip to Costco. Don't you always find new favorites there?
Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry
These were actually one of the in store samples and I couldn't resist taking a bag home. I love dark chocolate and the berry centers are tart and tasty.
Dyson DC 14 All Floor Vacuum
This was actually the reason for our Costco trip. Our vacuum was useless. It was no longer even picking up obvious crumbs, let alone deep down dirt. We decided to get a good vacuum for once, since we end up replacing our cheap ones every year. We did not get the fancy Dyson ball, because it is $600. This one is awesome though. When we got home and saw how much dirt it picked up off of just our tiny little area rug we were both disgusted and delighted. To sweeten the deal, it was $120 cheaper at Costco than anywhere else we have seen it.
Uncooked Tortillas
I have been hearing about these uncooked tortillas, but we have not had a Costco nearby until now. It is still about 3o minutes away and we have two Sam's Clubs within 20 minutes, but we had to get a Costco card so that I could get my hands on these tortillas. I love tortillas, even store bought ones, but nothing beats a warm tortilla. I took them out and cooked one up the minute we returned home from Costco. Then we ate black bean quesadillas for dinner last night, and tonight we all enjoyed warm cinnamon and sugar tortillas. Mmm, mmm, mmm! I have fajitas and tacos on the menu this week and I am thinking another Costco trip may be in order for next weekend, since it is likely we will burn through all 44 tortillas by then.
Bonus: Seth's New Favorite
We also grabbed a Magic Bullet at Costco since they had it for really cheap. Darn Costco, it is lucky we get out of that place alive! Seth is loving the Magic Bullet. I think he has Orange Juilus seeping from his pores by now. I know, I know, we are supposed to be in the middle of a weight loss challenge. We're working on it. In fact, Seth was down 3 pounds this week, and I was down 1. That brings his total to 13 and mine to 6. Still a pretty tight race and if he starts to get too far in front, I will lure him back over the top with an Orange Julius.
So those are my new found best friends. I will be talking about them and thinking about them more than is necessary all week. Don't you love those early days with a new best friend?

The thing I love about your friends, is we can all be introduced to them. We call Costco our $100 store because you can't step foot in it without leaving behind a minimum of $100 to go back out the door. But that's okay. I'm going to have to try the berries. And am already in love with the flour tortillas - although we don't go through them fast enough to buy them for ourselves. Do NOT try the chocolate covered almonds or cashew clusters, however. And don't say you weren't warned (hmmm - on second thought, they may be just the thing to get a leg up on Seth, especially if you don't taste them yourself).
Ooo! You love the Lego game? I eyed that forever for Christmas, but in the end, Santa brought lego robo champ. We may have to invest in one of those. Lego's are just a really great toy. I don't think you can go wrong.
Yea for a vacuum. Ours is getting really old too, but it hasn't died the death yet, so we keep on plugging. I want to know what you think of it after 6 months or so. Dysons sound so good in the commercials.
COSTCO!!! I am in love with that place. Those chocolate covered berries are so good, Kelly loves them! I have always wanted a Dyson so you will have to tell me more about it when we talk. Also need more details on that Lego game, what a rad idea...
I have a Sam's Club memebership because it is closer, but I am thinking I may need to drive a little further to get a Costco memebership instead.
I have never heard of that Lego game, and now I really want it! My kids would love it.
Candice introduced me to those tortillas when I took a trip to California a while back. They were fantastic, but I have never had them since. Are they only available at Costco?
I am in desperate need of a new vaccuum as well. I think the only reason I have made it this long is because my entire downstairs is tile. I'd also love to hear an update on your vaccuum status down the rode. If it's great, maybe I'll save for one.
Fun stuff! I've always wanted a magic bullet, but now we have our massive 500 hp blender. I think our vacuum may be on its way out soon, but I find I can "revive" it by taking all apart and cleaning everything really good. Maybe it's time to do that again. That game looks fun, we may have to borrow yours sometime;) Also bring along some of the choco-covered berries sometime. I want to try.

The Creationary Game looks like fun. I think Erin Leigh would love it. I am so envious of your new Dyson vacuum. It looks wonderful, and I really do mean that.
I vacuum my house every single day, and that vacuum looks like it would be fun to use! I bet you could leave some great lines in the carpet with it!

So, have you tried them with chocolate? Not chocolate syrup but melted bakers chocolate? If you're feeling really adventurous after you've cooked it fry it in some oil then put chocolate sauce and slivered almonds and cinnamon on it. Om nom nom

Sarah, I wish we'd had the Lego game when you were here. Definitely get it. I think Jonathon would love it. We don't play by rules. We just take turns rolling the dice to see what category we got and then building until everyone guesses what we are making. I love that it is helping the kids get away from the instructions and just using their creativity to build. We have been eyeing this vacuum for ages. We talked to a couple at the store who saw us looking at it. They have had it for years and they still love it.
Valerie, Costco is the best! I am loving this vacuum. Today I was inventing reasons to vacuum. It reminded me of Glenn. Remember how obsessed he was with vacuuming, and how we once counted him vacuuming 18 times in one day? I think it is because he always bought really good vacuums. Oh, and I found another favorite thing today at Hobby Lobby. Those bubble pipes and kazoos that we used to play with in Nonnie's bathtub. I was so excited that I went and blew bubbles while Chloe bathed today. I better send one to Luke.
Katie, We have a Sam's card too, but when they built this new Costco I couldn't resist. If you get a Dyson, go to Costco. This one was $399 everywhere else and only $280 at Costco. I know that is still a lot for a vacuum, but it has a 5 year warranty and with the vacuums I usually buy, I have to get a new one every year.
We used to be able to take apart our old vacuum and reassemble it, but lately that is not working and when I saw all the stuff that it was leaving behind being sucked up into the Dyson....AHHHHH! I will bring you some berries if I can keep them around until I see you this week.
Leslie, I figured I'd share some favorites, since you do all the time, and then I have to run out and buy whatever you blog about. I love to hear what other people are loving, and I can never rest until I have tried everyone's recommendations.
Brittney, Seriously, the vacuum! I wanted to puke, but I also loved seeing how much gunk we were getting rid of. After every room, I would empty it so that I could see how much I collected in the next room. I love knowing that my carpet is getting cleaned and not just striped. And I just put baker's chocolate on my grocery list so that I can copy your yummy tortilla idea.
1st: Your talk prepared in less than 24 hours. SHUT UP! It was fantastic. I say you should never plan ahead. I loved every second of what you shared and your words keeping popping up in my head. Dang girl! you rock!
2nd: I have not heard of Creationary but it should definitely be an own at my house.

LeShel, I am guilty of being the world's worst procrastinator but I can't get an idea to come together until I am down to the wire and have no other choice. I hope you didn't mind that I looked at you through almost my whole talk. It is always good to find a friend to look at. Thanks for your kindness. I am glad you could understand me through all the boo-hooing. I don't mind talking in front of people at all, but if it is in church I always cry and I hate that. Your Lego boys would LOVE Creationary. I was so bummed out that I didn't hear of it until after Christmas. I had to go buy it anyway. And feel free to piggy back to Costco with us anytime, or even borrow my card. Seth got the cards one day and since I wasn't with him, they couldn't take my picture, so anyone could use it. Although...it would be funny if they made you go get your picture taken while you were there, on my card. Hee, hee!
I saw that game in familly fun too and have been thinking about buying it forever. IT's good to hear a good review. Doug and Abi love playing legos together so I think it would be a perfect game for us. The other one we just got that we are having a lot of fun with is the Busytown game.
I have been thinking about getting a Costco card too. Everyone tells me they like it better than Sams Club but we are new to Sams and I've never been to Costco. We may just have to switch.
