For a long time one of my big claims to fame has been that...
I have NEVER had a mosquito bite...EVER!
As a child I would go out and play with my step sister Melissa and she would always get eaten alive. I never got a single bite.
On my mission we would chase visitors out to the Sacred Grove to spray them with bug spray. It was a battle zone in there. I never wore any bug spray and I could sit in the grove and read for an hour and come out unscathed. My companions were never so fortunate.
Now we live in a humid state right by the water and the mosquitoes are fierce. No worries...they don't bother me. They do however annihilate Alyssa. Poor thing is always a swollen mess.
Anyhow, this weekend we went on our ward campout. Hardly any ward members showed up but the mosquitoes sure did. I, of course was saturating the kids with bug repellent but I wasn't worried about myself.
But then......
this morning I woke up and counted 30 mosquito bites....30!!!!
I have always found it a bit mysterious that I had never had a bite but I am even more confounded by this new development. How do you go 33 years with nothing and then come up with 30 bites in one day? So weird.
I am so sad to lose my title as the bite-free girl but I do think this is kind of an interesting and bizarre twist.
Can anyone explain it?
I think I may have been too vocal with my Twilight bashing. I seem to have made the whole blood-sucking world angry.

Ha ha! Did the kids get bit?
When I was a kid it was really bad, I would swell up and get all red and itch like crazy!!! But as I got older I never really got bit and when I did it wouldnt be so bad. While we were in Canada the mosquitoes were crazy!!! I still have some bite scars left on my ankles and neck. Then since Ive been home some mysterious bug has been biting me in my sleep! What the heck is going on!??? Now you can see what everyone is complaining about! Its no fun getting bit and Twilight was lame so dont feel bad. Ooops maybe thats why I got attacked!!

Mosqitoes are repelled by certain smells. They never bite me. However, they are attracted to hormones excreted by pregnant women??

Val, Alyssa got bit too...of course. Alex never gets bit but I won't brag too much because I don't want to jinx him. Chloe got one bite.
And Sarah, yes camping...in a tent. Can you believe it? Seth thought I was being a whiner but compared to how I felt inside I was actually outwardly a very good sport.
And Dad...NOPE, not the solution...SORRY!
I've heard the mosquito's are attracted to carbon dioxide.
I wouldn't blame your hate of Twilight. I too have no love for the series and don't usually find myself overly covered in itchy spots.
That is strange. Maybe it was something that you ate that made them extra attracted to you? I get bitten all the time. I even sometimes find them in unusual places....hate when that happens. No one wants to have to scratch there.
That is totally crazy that you did have some bites this time--I definitely don't have an explanation. They were pretty intense, though! I should have totalled the bites on me and mine. I didn't notice till I put John in the tub, but he had them all over his head; guess his baby fine hair doesn't stop them, and Sara obviously was covered! Love it!

I think you passed on your bite-free streak to me because I'm without one single bite. However, even though I will get eaten alive and itch like crazy during buggy nights, I've never noticed sores the next day. Guess I've been lucky.
