Do you have Primary children?
If so I have a way to make Family Home Evening super easy for you.
The Primary has a theme every year. The theme is divided into 12 monthly sub-themes and then each week we emphasize a different aspect of that theme.
You may be saying..."duh, no kidding lady" but I am explaining this because I never knew this until a year ago.
So here is an idea.
Get a copy of this year's book, My Eternal Family. You can find it online or by clicking here. Or you can order one from ldscatalog.com. It is free, even the shipping is free.
So now that you have your book, flip to the month and week that we are currently in and use this week's topic as your topic for FHE. This serves 2 purposes. You will reinforce at home what your kids are learning in Primary...and you can find tons of ready made lessons online. Sugardoodle.net has a whole section with sharing time ideas. Find out what your kids did for sharing time in Primary (ask them, or the Presidency if your kids are too little to give you a thorough recap) and then just pick another idea from online and adapt it for your family.
This way you never have to add chaos to a Monday. You will be ready to go every week.
This week our theme for Primary was "reverence and keeping the Sabbath Day Holy strengthen my family".
The lovely and talented Andra did sharing time for Senior Primary, and since my kids are in Junior Primary and didn't see her lesson, I am adapting it for my FHE lesson.
Here is what she did. She took a hot dog and put lots of yummy hot dog toppings on it. Then she added ice cream toppings. She talked about how those are good things, but they don't belong on the hot dog just like some things don't belong on the Sabbath.
I am actually going to flip her idea and put hot dog toppings on an ice cream sundae. That way I can compare the things that don't belong on a sundae to the things that don't belong on a Sunday...so cheesy, right? Also, that way I have my treat ready to go. After our lesson we will make sundaes. Super easy and super fun, I hope!
I would wait to post this so I can add pictures and a review for you but I thought I'd throw it out there in case any of you still need to plan something for tonight. This would be a super easy last minute lesson and a good excuse to go buy lots of goodies for sundaes.

That is a good idea to piggyback with the Primary stuff, and Andra's sharing time was awesome. I should've ready this post earlier, although I did end up doing a FHE thing about fire safety, so now I think John is going to be paranoid for a while. Oops.
I mean read. Not ready.

great idea, i may still use it next week and have my senior primary kids teach it since they were there.
also i found out that in the Ensign you can use the home teacher suggestions for FHE.
